Abstract

Abu Yusuf Yaqub is considered one of the foremost thinkers of the Islamic world. This article is devoted to the work of this thinker. Emphasis is placed on materials related to the life and work of Abu Yusuf Yaqub and the thinker's achievements in spreading Hanafi views.  The author also analyzes the work of Abu Yusuf Yaqub "Kitab al-Haraj”, information on socio-economic life, religious and philosophical issues, and tax issues. The article analyzes the situation in the Muslim East in the VIII-IX centuries and cultural and educational ties in the early period of the Abbasite Caliphate. It examines the social and philosophical views of Abu Yusuf Yaqub Ibn Ibrahim al-Kufi, known in the Islamic world as Abu Yusuf, and the influence he had on the lives of the peoples of our country. In our country, the philosophical views of Abu Yusuf are not fully explored. They are only studied by English, French, and Russian Orientalists. Interest in studying the scientific heritage of Abu Yusuf Yaqub began in the 30s of the twentieth century. The work "Kitab al-Haraj" created by Abu Yusuf is very popular and it very clearly reflects the social and philosophical views of Abu Yusuf. It was first printed in Arabic in Europe in 1985 by the Bulak printing house. Subsequently, in 1921, it was translated into French by E. Farian. In 1939, it was translated into Russian by Professor Alexander Eduardovich Schmidt. It was examined by the European Orientalists Worms, Berham and others. In particular, in 1969 it was translated into English by A. Ben Shemesh.The article fully covers the life and work of Abu Yusuf Yaqub. Attention is drawn to the works of the thinker, in particular to the analysis of tax issues in the Islamic world. The article shows the contribution that a student of Abu Hanafi, Abu Yusuf made to the wide spread of the Hanafi madhhab. It is noteworthy that it was thanks to Abu Yusuf's work as the Supreme Kadi in the Caliphate that Hanafi movement was implemented from theory into practical life and was widely spread throughout the Caliphate. In his work "Kitab al-Haraj", along with an indication of how the tax system in the Arab Caliphate was formed, very valuable historical information is provided for us. This article helps us to objectively study our history and learn more about the heritage of our ancestors.
